How to choose ERP software for manufacturing

Manufacturing ERP should give operations leaders one view of materials, production, quality, costs, and delivery commitments.

Manufacturers need more than accounting software with an inventory module. A useful ERP platform has to reflect the way material actually moves through planning, production, quality checks, warehouses, and dispatch.

Begin by mapping the workflows that make or break delivery: bills of materials, purchase planning, job cards, work orders, subcontracting, batch traceability, and quality control. The software should make each of these visible without forcing teams to create duplicate records.

Cost control matters just as much. Teams should be able to compare planned and actual material use, labor, overhead, and production time. When those signals are timely, managers can protect both delivery dates and margins.
